It was a close fought 1st half with OP causing GV some trouble. OP took the lead and GV had to fight to get back into the game. A great volley (was it the goal of the game??)by Graeme Ferguson got GV back on equal terms. GV kept pressing and eventually managed to get another goal just before half time to provide a small lead.
The youth and pace of the GV team started to tell with goals starting to come from all areas of the park. A lot of goals in the 2nd half and a good competitive game right to the end. All credit to OP for continuing to fight on while being so far behind. OP kept pressing as GV started to take a breather at times and OP could have sneaked a late consulation goal.
This has been another good solid performance from GV. Getting through the 1st half and then taking command of the game in the 2nd.
The first 3 games of the season has seen a good start against teams in our own league.
It's a much tougher test on Saturday as GV now have to face opposition from Dynamo EK who were in the 1st div and are now in the 2nd. Will GV be able to step up to the challenge of Dynamo EK. Only a few days to wait and find out if the young pups can handle the pressure or will they crack.
