1st league game back for the New Year. It was a very sluggish and poor performance from GV. There was a lot of possesion and many corners in the 1st half. However, it wan't until the last minute of the 1st half that GV got the 1st goal from a corner, scored by Pringle. There seemed to be a lack of pace about GV and the break hasn't done them any good, very much off the pace and lacking the killer touch.

The 2nd half started badly with a mistake from the keeper (Jamie) at a corner allowing Moorpark to sneak a goal back. GV continued in the same manner with lots of the ball and not managing to create anything that troubled the Moorpark keeper.

A bit of a defensive mistake from Mo left Moorpark with an easy run in to goal to take them ahead 2-1. This then had GV pressing the game trying to get back level quickly to even the game. Most of the game was played in the Moorpark half with the occasional break from Moorpark.

On one of the rare ventures up the park Moorpark had a corner. The ball broke to the edge of the box and a Moorpark player connected with the ball in a tackle and the ball flew into the back of the GV net. Now GV were 3-1 down very much against the run of play.

A few quick passes down the left had Nabby coming in on the Moorpark goal at a tight angle where he managed to squeeze the ball into the back of the net. GV had scrapped themselves back into contention.

Yet another defensive error (this time from Michael) allowed Moorpark to run in from half way to the GV goals. With the Moorpark player heading to score, there was a late challenge from Pringle that resulted in a penalty. The Moorpark player stepped up and put the ball away for them to go 4-2 ahead.

A few quick substituitions, Turner for Sharpie and then Kenco for Graeme saw GV attacking once again. GV now had all of the possesion and had plenty of chances to score. It was a pass out to the right that left Frankie with some space to pick his shot. A wonderfully flighted shot went into the top Left hand corner of the Moorpark goal. Now GV were trailing by one goal 3-4.

With time running out Moorpark held on to take all three points.

It was a disappointing performance from GV with few players getting pass marks. Lets just hope that this one is out of their system and GV get back on to the winning way.
